"But I don't want to go among mad people," Alice remarked. "Oh, you can't help that," said the Cat: "we're all mad here. I'm mad. You're mad."
"How do you know I'm mad?" said Alice. "You must be," said the Cat, "or you wouldn't have come here."

Totalled

The car, that is. Finito. Kaput. It is an ex-Honda.

This, of course, is all part of my evil plan to do nearly exactly the same thing that Annika does a short while after she does it*. Bwahahaha...cough...haha.

So, we are carshopping. Fun times! Especially since we don't know exactly how much the insurance company will be giving us and we can dream a little.

What should we look at this weekend?

*Well, perhaps not every single thing she does. I am entirely too old for babies. And too young for grandbabies.

If we are not restrained by silly things like budgets, you should look at the fully loaded Prius. I hear good things. So good, in fact, that I declined to test drive one, because I didn't want to cry.

I looooove my Mazda3.

I have always been a big Honda fan but this year's cars are really poppy. Uncomfortable and bad visibility. (I don't know about the bigger ones like the Element - just the Civic really.)

As far as I am concerned those are the only car companies. (Though the - imaginary to my mind - Suburu Forrester is supposed to be good.)

Um, I meant poopy, not poppy.

Everyone's getting new cars except me! But I won't complain. It was bad events that made you HAVE to get new cars in the first place. So, a new car is your reward!

I've been lusting like crazy for a Honda Hybrid. Oh, yes.

I'm a big fan of the Toyata Prius. But, it may be good to wait a couple years on that one (due to inflated prices and possible recalls).

VWs have served me quite well over the years. I loved my Jetta. Also, I quite like the Toureg... but given that they start at $37K (USD) - that's not happening anytime soon. :/

Now, a Mini Cooper convertible... *sigh*.

Practicallity be damned!

Jess, you and Heath are evil tempting us like that, especially with all that joyful giggling. Unfortunately, the Prius would run us about $38,000 before taxes (15%--yikes!) here in Canada and is simply out of our range. *turns green with Prius envy*

Congratulations on your totalment! Much better than them insisting it can be fixed. *nods*

Something like that happened to me, once. My car was getting old and kept having starting and stalling problems, but the mechanic could NEVER find a problem, yet I kept having to pay for service. Damn moneypit!

Finally, one morning, while I was on my way to the mechanic's once again, I was taking a left turn after a stop sign, and an SUV coming the other way smashed into me. And I didn't even dart in front of him on purpose! And the first thing the driver said to me was "I'm so sorry, the sun was in my eyes and I didn't see you!" My car was still drivable, but had SO MUCH body damage and wasn't worth all that much to begin with, that it was deemed TOTALLED. Happiest accident of my life. Got a nice check from the other guy's insurance company, and got myself another used, but better working, car.

Sweet.

I want a Toyota Echo so badly I can taste it! It's not a hybrid, but it's got excellent mileage, tons of room on the inside and a compact outside for when you have to do things like parallel park.
Hope you have fun!
